Loss of sidebars and footer

  • Site crashed last night, error mesage saying “Resouce limit reached” Contacted the hosting company who asked me to deactivate all my plugins and reactivate one by one to try and identify if one was causing the problem. Did this, but found no issue. Site came back up but we had lost all the side bars and footers etc. It is just showing latest posts. Hosting Co reset the files from two days previous , still the same. If I check in Appearnce, widgets, all the content is still there.

    One problem I had had leading up to this was that when creating a new post it wasn’t letting me add a photo gallery. It allowed me to create one but not add it to the post. Not sure if this is a seperate issue.

    Theme is Calotropis (I know, its old !)

    Any thoughts any one ?

  • Please turn on error debugging in your WordPress: you need to manually edit the wp-config.php file. Open /wp-content.php file and add following lines (at the end of a file):

    Error log will be saved to /wp-content/debug.log. Please paste it here

    PS: This theme hasn’t been updated in over 8 years. You should definitely change it.

    Firststly, many thanks for your assistance. Added the code to wp-content.php file, however this has not generated a debug log.
