• In my case, I had just attempted to add my last image–maybe the sixth in the post–with captions and credits et al. That image wouldn’t load and when I tried to return to the post to save what I had done, it took me back to an “add post” screen. I pushed the forward button and got back to the post as I had seen it this morning, before I started adding images and making other edits.

It seems that this problem has persisted over many years without resolution as there were posts 5 years old and more describing similar occurrences. WHY?

Have you tried disabling plugins to rule out a plugin conflict? How big are your image files? Have you verified that your site’s security has not been compromised?

To quote Mika, your server is a snowflake. That is, every installation of WordPress is unique in some way. So there are lots of reasons for people to experience a problem similar to this. It seems you’ve done your homework by looking through the forums. (Thank you!) Surely there were suggestions made—have you tried any and what were the results?

It is also entirely this is not a WP problem, but a server problem. Some servers don’t like large files.
