• Someone other than me migrated this blog to another host. (9 child sites currently.) In doing this they also changed/deleted some of the usernames, including what I believe is the old Super User.

    At this point the username ‘admin’ will not give me access to the Network menu. Though everything else.

    I can’t seem to find any good instructions on how to enable other users to Super Admin manually through PhpMyAdmin or otherwise.

    If you have phpMyAdmin, go into wp_sitemeta

    Look up site_admins which has a value like a:1:{i:0;s:7:"Ipstenu";}

    Now the name there (Ipstenu for me) is the admin name.

    If that’s someone else, you either need to log in as that ID, OR change the admin. Be very careful. This can go wildly wrong. Make a backup first!

    If you wanted to change it to mrbum21, you would do this: a:1:{i:0;s:7:"mrbum21";}

    HOWEVER. If your ID is admin, then it’s this: a:1:{i:0;s:5:"admin";}

    See how thw 7 became a 5? That’s serialization, and the length of the ID matters.
