• sometime in the last few months (haven’t updated the site in a while), I have lost access to nextrivet.com/wp-admin. I have cleared cache and cookies. But all attempts just bring me back to a wordpress.com page?

  • There is also a link on your login page: “Log in with username and password”. You should be able to use your usual login data. The login window at this point is obviously changed by the Jetpack plugin you are using.

I have tried username and password, but it doesn’t appear to see me. I never installed the jetpack plugin?

I get this – There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

The reason for this error should be visible in the error log. You can find it in your hosting area. If necessary, the support of your hosting can help you.

Alternatively, you could also enable debugging in WordPress. How to do this is described here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ – also here the support of your hosting can help you if necessary to edit the file accordingly.

In both cases you should be able to see what the cause is in the logfile. Often it is a plugin. You can delete the directory of the guilty plugin via FTP. After that you should be able to access it again.

To get access to wp-admin again, you could use “forgot password”. If that doesn’t help, check out this article here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/resetting-your-password/

    – try resetting password by clicking on “Forget Password”
    OR
if you have access to database (hosting. .) go to user table (wp_users)
    – edit your user
    – on “user_pass” column change the “value” with new pass and select “function” to “md5

after setting your new pass click on update on bottom

Now try login with username/pass by refreshing your site

let me know if you have confusion, I can help you with screenshots. .
