    Hi

Unfortunately, I lost access to the wp-admin when moving my WordPress installation from an underlying folder to webroot. When using the url to the site/wp-login.php, I get the login page but with an error message:

“WRONG/FAULT: Cookies are blocked due to unexpected outflow. For help ask support forum.”

When I add user and password to login in, one single word appears in the left-hand corner: Blocked

Have changed the wp-login.php and .htaccess files according instructions (https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress#Changing_Your_Domain_Name_and_URLs).

Otherwise the content (except media links) show on the new location as anticipated. Existing image/media links refer to the old folder and will have to be replaced, which I can manage if I only get access to the wp administration panel.

How do I regain access to wp-admin (what do I change in any of the installation files or in the SQL database)?

Would very much appreciate your advice.

    Best regards,
    Cebe

    First, try this:

    – clear all white spaces before <?php tag in your active theme’s functions.php using notepad.

    – don’t end with closing tag ?>

If that does not help, then in addition, try:
    – deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s). When you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try deactivating via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application provided by your hosting provider (cPanel…). Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (If you have created such folder). The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old.
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins). When you don’t have access to your admin area, use FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder by adding “-old” to the end of the folder name. Alternately, you can remove other themes except the default theme. That will force your site to use it.
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try resetting the plugins foldervia FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

The web host helped me to get access to the wp-panel by switching theme to Twentyone so that I was able to login. After that your advice helped me through the rest.

The theme Garfunkel had crashed, so I had to install everything again and adding on piece by piece (theme, child theme, plugins, and so on). Had to import all images and set all links all over again, which took some time, but it was nevertheless a relief to gain access to the wp-admin again.

Thank you for your kind and instructive reply.

    Best regards
