• Hello!

After my website domain name lost it’s revelancy I wanted to change it today.
I had a name prepared that I knew was not taken, but before that I only wanted to see if I can use ‘artofmovement’ as a name. I was so stupid to do that, I kinda expected to see a notification that change is impossible because there is an existing website under this domain. But to my surprise something happened and now I can’t log in at all to admin panel, my email and username seems to be not recognisable, and whatever I try to click on my page it redirects to that other website.

I am just a simple person only starting website-making journey so I have no clue what should I do next :/

Thank you in advance for any help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

Don’t worry, we all do things like that when we are learning.

It sounds like you are redirecting your site to the other domain. Did you make the changes from your hosting Control Panel? If so, try changing it back to what it was. It may take a while for the changes to propagate but it should be OK.

    Hello,

    No need to panic.

did you changed domain name in the wordpress backend?

i see your website yinartofmovement.com is loading broken css and pages are linking to https://www.artofmovement.com/

What you need to do is revert the setting.

    Hi Carme,

Yes I went to Dashboard -> settings -> general and changed the name there.

I am trying to log in but it is impossible ??

Now trying to get in contact with my hosting place (I hope I named it right), maybe they can undo what I did.

I just wonder how my website still works after typing old domain, but whatever I click it redirects to someone else’s website :S

    Hello @yumipk.
Have you try resetting your username and Email?

    Hello,

If you can’t login to the Dashboard, the site url can be changed directly from the database.

If your hosting provider has given you a Control Panel login, it may include a tool to access the MySQL database. It would be PHPmyAdmin or something similar.

From there, you would connect to your website’s database and go to the wp_options table. The entries you would need to change are siteurl and home

If you don’t see PHPmyAdmin or don’t feel comfortable doing the change yourself, you should contact the Support Desk of your hosting provider and they should be able to change it for you.
