• HI! I am hoping that someone can help me out. I had to do a reset of my wordpress, and somehow I lost all of the images that are in my blog posts and the media library. I tried to go in and regenerate the thumbnails but it says it can’t find the images. However, when I check through the actual hosting files– all the images are in there. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to restore these media files? Thank you so much in advance!

  • When you upload files through media library, WordPress tags them in database. If database is reset, files will remain on the server but WordPress won’t “see” them.

What you need is this plugin Add From Server. You’ll need to specify where your files are, then this plugin will help you add them to database so WordPress can “see” them.

Thank you so much for the response! I downloaded the plugin and began reinstalling all the images. Do you know if there is a plugin to make sure that the images link back to the posts that they were originally on? Thanks!

No sorry, I don’t know if there’s a way to attach files to posts they are used on.
