    Site: https://trentbooks.com

I had a good friend of mine build and host a site for me at trentbooks.com. Recently I decided to build my own site on another domain I had (brandxgoods.com), then transfer the trentbooks.com domain to myself and transfer the site I had been building on brandxgoods.com to the trentbooks.com domain. And, of course, I screwed it up.

The site is up and running (sort of). It’s missing the header image for some reason, as well as some of the stuff in the sidebar. The worst problem, though, is that I can’t access my back end anymore. I used the plugin Better WP Security to change the name of my admin login page, so now what’s happening is that the wp-login.php and the wp-admin pages don’t exist and, strangely enough, my specialized back end url redirects me to the old login page where the site used to be hosted by my friend (though the site doesn’t display properly). When I do try to log in there, it takes me back to the site I built, but informs me that there is no page existing for it.

I’m thoroughly perplexed here. I tried to follow these pages for changing domains:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_The_Site_URL
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress

One thing that I did notice is that when I copied my files to the trentbooks directory the .htaccess file didn’t copy (because it was hidden). The result was that the site displayed fine, but none of my login screens were working. So when I moved the .htaccess file over, that’s when the header went away and my specialized login screen became available (though it sent me to my friend’s login screen he had for me).

Any help with this? I apologize if this is overly vague, but to be honest I’m no dev and I know just enough to get myself in trouble (this whole ordeal being a fine example).

    My sincere thanks in advance.

OK, I just realized there were several references in my .htaccess file to the old site, brandxgoods.com. I replaced all of these with the new site, trentbooks.com and I now have access to my login screen again and my admin area looks like it’s functioning perfectly.

    PHEW!

Now if I can figure out what the deal with my header is, I’ll be in good shape.

OK, complete and utter weirdness. In FF the banner was just gone. In Chrome there was an empty space about 2000px tall (with the little no load symbol in the middle, like an image had failed to load). I just uploaded my banner again and it seems to work OK.

*sigh* It’s 3:30am, and I’m pretty sure WP is just messing with me at this point.

    Thanks for reading. =P
