Lost content on events

My client recently updated the calendar and listed several events on a separate page. All of the new content disappeared a few days later.
I discovered that your plugin hadn’t been updated recently, so I took care of it for her. She’s re-entered all of the information and is afraid she’s going to lose it again. Do you have any idea why this happened? Is it a plugin or WordPress issue? How can we prevent it from happening in the future?
