    I’ve never heard of a similar issue. As long as the wp-content/files and database structures stay the same, there shouldn’t have been any issue with upgrading php5. If you changed to a multisite or used some database cleaning plugin or rebuild thumbnails plugin, then yes, that would probably cause an issue.

    Prevention would entail backing up your database, and saving the wp-content/files directory.
