• I clicked auto -update to change version to 4.4 but the dashboard disappeared and upload did not finish installing

I tried to research the matter and started troubleshooting by FTP.
    1.renamed plugin folder to plugin_old
2.renamed current theme Lightword to Lightword_old (resulted to complete White screen for entire site).changed back to Lightword and site is up but dashboard is still gone
    3. uploaded manually version 4.4 to change WordPress version but did not include WP-content folder in transfer
    – uploaded theme Twenty sixteen in theme’s folder
    – renamed Lightword folder to lightword old and renamed TwentySixteen to Lightword (Site was up but messed up and still no dashboard)

    4. deleted history in browser to remove cache and cookies.

    Still no dashboard.

After steps 1 and 2, I did the error reporting via wp-config.php.
    error report was as follows:

Notice: Constant WP_DEBUG already defined in /mysite/wp-config.php on line 94

Strict Standards: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, non-static method GD_reCAPTCHA::menu_hook() should not be called statically in /mysite/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 503

Notice: Undefined variable: nue_options in /mysite/wp-content/plugins/new-user-email-set-up/newuseremailsetup.php on line 78

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_removable_query_args() in /mysite/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 900

Notice: Use of undefined constant user_level – assumed ‘user_level’ in /mysite/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-google-analytics/ultimate_ga.php on line 524

What other steps did I miss? Help!!

BTW, there are 5 wp-includes/css files that failed to transfer after I tried to update manually WP version..Could this be affecting my updates?

Did you follow Manual update for step 3? If so I would undo your theme folder renaming. Check for dashboard after each step. Preferably from a different browser (it will have an empty cache)
Missing css could be a problem. the admin ones are admin-bar,wp-admin,buttons,wp-auth-check,wp-color-picker in ver4.4

@Brett59 yes. I did undo plugin renaming and theme renaming. but the whole site came out with error 500 during the manual update. During the css transfer, I got response 550/Permission denied.

I contacted host to have older WP version back. Site is ok now and dashboard is back. It seems to be the only solution for many. I’m monitoring many other threads and will wait for result of a ticket sent to tech group.

    Hi

How do you upload a plugin if you do not have access to admin page?

    I used a plugin https://www.buddyboss.com/product/social-learner-learndash/

I used my main WordPress account the install a plugin with the intention keeping the site unpublished” and removing the live link from my website until I was happy with the functionalities of the software I had just paid almost $500 to test.

On completion of the install, the social-learner-learn dash (Buddy Boss) completely Hijacked my account; my login details were deleted, and I lost access to the admin portal. I was notified by a support that there was in “interruption” in the install and-and I should look at the document ” How To Recover A Hacked Website” charming….
I was not afforded the opportunity to unpublished the WordPress site and have been left unsupported and mocked by support for uploading the software on live site. In the first place.

‘We are not all Web developers Boss Buddy. It made perfect sense to me when you said not to use it on LIVE site, hence why I was going to make it UN-LIVE, but you took my admin away before could do so.

After spending $500 with this mob armed only with a Pdf and how to deal with hackers, I am now Seeking community support gurus for a work around to gain access to admin features of my WordPress site…please help
