I have inherited a WordPress web site and want to edit something on the home page. I have logged in as an administrator and searched everywhere but cannot find the page that appears when our URL is type into a browser. I have viewed every page in the editor and they are all the pages “behind” the home page.

I searched this forum and found some similar issues, read the linked information which pointed me to how to create a statis home page. When I checked my settings under Reading there was no setup for a static home page. Now I’m even more confused than when I started.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction please? Our site is at .

    Thanks in anticipation!!!

  • Your site is using either of the following templates under your theme directory: home.php or index.php or front-page.php under wp-content/themes/Architect directory.

This is not a page as a ‘regular page’.

You have all different kinds of content on your home page. You have your recent posts listed in the bottom right corner. ‘Commercial’, ‘Residential’ may be categories of posts, or they maybe hard-coded in the template file index.php.

What exactly do you want to change?

Thanks for your help. I want to edit the left hand text box to add a “more info” link that points to the electrical services page.

Does this theme have an options pane? If yes, check if there is a place for home page boxes in the options.

If not… Copy the following text (this is part of the text in your left box):
Our services include the Supply, Installation, Service & Repairs of all electrical systems

Then go to your admin, go to Pages, and paste the copied text in the search field in the top right hand corner. WordPress will search not only titles of pages, but also their content.

If there is no result, try searching in Posts.

Again if no result, this text may be entered in a custom field – open any page and look under the content you have custom fields pane. I am afraid you will have to check all pages manually for this.

If no result after this, you will have to check your site’s php template. As Navjot Singh said:

Thanks for all of these suggestions boryanka. I poked around and finally found it under Widgets! It’s called “Bottom Left Sidebar”.

Hi all, I’m new to this stuff and I’m afraid I’ve messed something up and can’t fix it. My Home page is the same as a page I want to have as my blog. My site isn’t up and running at the moment as I’m truying to construct. I don’t want my home page to have this on it but when I go to pages it isn’t listed so I cant even edit it?? What’s happened?

    Cathy
