• Hello,
I was trying to remove the “post date” from my page and deleted the section of php code for this function. When I saved and refreshed my website was GONE! I can’t even get into the login screen. Obviously removing that code messed up something major.
Can anyone walk me through what to do? I’m a beginner.
    Thanks.
    Caroline

  • Login to the server via cPanel and upload the original file.

If you don’t know what cPanel is, contact your web hosting support, he/she might help you restore the file to its original copy.

Switch on PHP debugging – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress – any clues?

Is any of the website still visible? If so, what’s its url?

Were you editing the theme? If so, were you editing a child theme rather than the original (you should)? Or was this code in functions.php (more dangerous, always make a copy before editing)?

Backups = never having to worry about making changes.
