LOST on installation… Please help

How does the system know my web host, etc to even determine this?

It tests to see if PHP or MySQL are available before beginning the install proper. You need to check with your hosts if your hosting account meets the minimum requirements needed for WordPress.

My host says I have everything I need. So what am I doing wrong? Do I need to have my site opened, ftp up, etc? I don’t know where to tell WordPress what my domain is and how to connect the two. Sorry… I’m so lost.

omg I think I see now… I don’t install it on my computer, but FTP it up to my site? I’m going to try that. I don’t know what I was thinking…

Where you were trying to run WordPress was going to be my next question. ??

ok… I’ve uploaded it to the root of my site, and still can run install. Says 404 page not found. Any suggestions please?? I’m trying to access https://www.freebiefix.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php. It was installed in a WordPress folder and I’m staring right at it LOL…. help!????

Did you upload the .zip file or the unzipped set of files?

The zip file.. unzipped it, etc and still nothing. ??

You should be using https://www.freebiefix.com/wp-admin/install.php

However, that just shows the following message:

Your server is running PHP version 4.4.4 but WordPress 3.2.1 requires at least 5.2.4.

I know… I didn’t have it installed in the root directory before and moved it, only to find that my host won’t upgrade the PHP version. I am in the process of switching. thank you so much!
