• Strange issue, hopefully, someone can shed light on the problem or things I can do to figure it out.

So, If I go to my local intranet only WordPress site. I click “lost password”. I use my username not my email to receive the email. It works! I use my email instead and I receive it. It works! I have an “editor” user that I try the same thing. He uses his username. He gets the error “The email could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function.”

Everything is identical to my user settings. for example, my username and his username are in the identical format. one word username, no spaces. For example “jsmith”. Yet his doesn’t work.

I installed the easy-wp-smtp plugin and it still works for me and my other administrator user. We just put in our username, not email, and it sends us the email. For this one user, it’s still a problem.

Oh BTW I am using IIS for my wordpress site.
