Lost post editor

I’m currently building my first site. This plugin does what I want – extra fields for registration and a check box on the registration form. However, I want to approve new users. I’ve tried the following plugins:
Confirm User Registration
New User Approve
WP Approve User
Request Access
Whichever one I try I get the same problem. Editors and Authors are unable to write new posts (or pages for Editors) – opening the New Post or New Page editors gives a white screen. With any of them, if I deactivate Cimy Extra Fields the editor access returns.
