Lost some posts after update from WP 3.8 to WP 4.22

    I just updated from WP 3.8 to WP 4.2.

    After the update I seem to have lost about 200 posts mostly from the last 2 months but also before but I still have the rest of the 1000 posts. The lost posts are not showing in the admin or the front end.

    Also some posts are missing their featured image. The image does not exist in the library anymore.

    What happened? How can I fix this?
