  • This is usually the case when a submenu is being generated dynamically based on the contents of the page. For that I would try to use the experimental version of my plugin, which you can download at https://github.com/senff/Sticky-Menu-or-Anything-On-Scroll-WP/archive/master.zip

(Note: experimental! Will be overwritten once the next version of the plugin will be released.)

    Hi, Thanks.

The menu is not being generated dynamically (it’s the primary navigation menu in Appearance > Menus…)

experimental version of my plugin, which you can download at https://github.com/senff/Sticky-Menu-or-Anything-On-Scroll-WP/archive/master.zip

That is the version I am using.

I checked the site and I don’t see anything that could be caused by my plugin. Can you please temporarily disable the Sticky Anything plugin, and see if the submenu DOES show then?

Hi – Sticky anything plugin disabled now & sub-menu is back

Same case here! No drop-down menu, please help !

I see what’s happening. The submenu is hidden/shown by using some jQuery code. This code will not work when there are two (identical) menus on the page, which is basically what the Sticky Anything plugin does.

I’m afraid this is an incompatibility issue between the theme and the plugin. I’d have to look into this a little deeper but it’ll take a little while. I’ll try to do this later today, but I can’t guarantee there’ll be an easy fix available. I’ll let you know!

Thank you. It’s way beyond me, so any and all help greatly appreciated!

@kcmuppet Please switch the Sticky Anything plugin back on so I can investigate further.

It’s possible that there’s another plugin you have that is causing the issue (maybe the smooth scroll one?). You can test this by disabling all plugins (except Sticky Anything) and see if the submenu appears. If it does, enable the plugins again one by one, and each time check if the submenu still shows.

Out of the box, the Sticky Anything plugin works fine with the Minamize theme (see this page for an example: https://wp.senff.com , as long as the Z-index is set to 3 or higher) so I’m wondering if something else is the issue.

    Hi

So I turned off all plugins except Sticky plugin & then switched them back on one by one – the culprit was: JCK Admin Bar Toggle https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/admin-bar-toggle/

I can live without it – it just toggles the admin bar out of the way which is helpful when trying to work out the menus. I’ll try some alternative.

    Thanks again for your help.

Glad to hear you found what the issue was! I’m not sure if it’s that plugin not playing nice with mine, or vice versa, but I’ll be looking into it to see if I can make any improvements.

I spoke too soon! My testing was just with the menu at the top of the page. Once scrolled down, the sub-menu doesn’t appear, even with that other plugin switched off. ??

Dang. And no other plugins are activated?

I really like this plugin a lot, not much coding needed to make it in place, however, there are no sub menus. I really hope that you can come out with a solution!

I have used js sticky plugin before and it worked. However, I still like this plugin better,

Going to do some more extensive testing on the plugins and see if it might be to do with the order in which they’re loaded (as my friend thinks)

Looking at the sub menu thing again – it definitely it isn’t working for the sub-menu when you’re scrolled down at all – even with no other plugins activated. Only the top menu shows the drop-down

(I’m trying in Chrome & IE11 in case that’s relevant.)
I don’t have any custom CSS (that I know of)
I don’t know what to try next.???
