  • Hey @clairedall26!

Great question! I have opened one of your old posts, https://www.ajourneyinmywheels.org/?p=1208, and it seems the whole page is wrapped in a link that takes you to a foreign website. This may be a sign that something is changing parts of your website without your intention.

I suggest turning off all plugins and checking with the default TwentyTwenty theme if the problem persists. If the issue resolves, enable each plugin one by one until the issue pops up again. That’ll be your problem plugin.

Then, I’d take a look at the following guide regarding security: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/hardening-wordpress/

    Warm regards!

Thank you. Can this be what’s caused me to lose my text? Is there anyway to recover my blog posts?

It’s hard to say at this point. I wouldn’t lose hope just yet. Have a go at following the suggested steps and see if this resolves your issue.

You can use the Health Check plugin to disable all plugins for you only: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ and it might also show you more info that could be relevant.

If you have a backup of your site, then restoring your posts should be fairly trivial :)!

@clairedall26 also, if you are using WordPress.com to host your website, they may be able to provide you with additional support.

    WordPress.com and www.ads-software.com are different entities: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/wordpress-vs-wordpress-com/

No I went to WordPress.com first and they can’t help. I’m using tsohosting.

@clairedall26 understood. It might be worth reaching out to tsohosting to see if they can help too.

Regardless, I strongly suggest you try the steps that I have mentioned before to see if that helps. Even if it doesn’t, it gives us more information on where to look :)!

I tried to visit your website but to follow a link there to a single page it wanted me to install some weird pdf reader I’d never seen before. That’s is not a part of WordPress. And my web browser is perfectly capable of handling a PDF on its own anyway.

I tried again and was asked to ‘allow’ something to read the next article. It looked to be some ‘notification’ permission. I exited that one and tried to pull an RSS feed.

    Your RSS feeds are broken…

My next effort was to go back to the page with your article but it looks more like an archive page than the single article page I expected and there is no text listed there.

I was then asked to install something from a chrome app store so I could view ‘free movies’.

I ran an external malware scan… it didn’t find any problems but I suspect the site has been compromised.

I tried to figure out who your webhost is… Your server was kind of messed up when I hit the IP address hoping it would tell me something about your Control Panel.

Nothing and nothing and broken, too.

My best advice is to restore from your last good backup… Your webhost might be able to help you there also.

Let us know if we can help further… but with what I have to go on I’m limited on what I can do other than advise you to restore.
