lost titles in browser tab

    After installing and removing several SEO plugins, including Yoast and SEO ultimate, I have nothing int eh browser tab but the url of the site. The page titles are missing and I have tried for hours to get them back. The title tag is in the header as it should be.
    Any suggestions?
