In the 404 monitor, it is showing a whole stack of 404 errors referring to URLs that don’t exist on my site. Let me clarify, they do exist, but they have /[object set] after the valid URL. The object set is causing 404s.

I switched on Advanced view and they are coming from links in posts on my site. However, when I go to the offending page, and view the source there’s no such URLs in the HTML.

When I look at my site stats with AWstats, I see there are thousands of requests to these nonexistent URLs.

Driving me crazy, how can I fix ? I’ve scoured the internet for solutions, but I can’t see any.

    Hello @audiomonk

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for the issue you are facing.

By the looks of it, it seems like an attach happening on your server via bots.

Can you please share the URL structure and the list of the plugins and the theme active on your website?

In the meantime, please go through these guides and implement the things you can to strengthen your server:

Hi, the URL structure is /category/post the theme is generatepress. Don’t really want to list publicly the plugins I have installed, I do have NinjaFirewallPro as a firewall, also going through cloudflare. I’ve got Bad Bot Blocker installed to hopefully see off those bots, but the logs are still full of these requests.

Thanks for the links, I’ll take a look at them. Could you elaborate more on what you mean by an attach is happening via bots?

    Hello @audiomonk

Sorry for the typo, we meant to say, attack.

We personally use Cloudflare on our websites to avoid any such hassles.

    Hope that helps. Thank you.

Sorry for the late reply, and sorry to say I switched SEO solutions, didn’t have the time to dig into this further. Not to say I won’t be coming back to Rank Math in the future though, just time constraints at the moment.

    Hello @audiomonk

That’s unfortunate and we are sorry to see you go.

You could have also turned off the 404 Monitor module in the plugin since we are unsure if any other SEO plugin offers that feature.

With that said, please feel free to contact us back if you need assistance with anything else, we would be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
