Lot’s of 404 errors /wc/store/v1/cart?_locale=user

    We recently moved from WIX over to WordPress and WooCommerce and have been battling redirects and 404’s with the Redirection plugin.

    A couple of days ago we started getting a large amount of 404 errors trying to hit /wc/store/v1/cart?_locale=user

    I am not sure why this started happening. We don’t have any code or any weird plugins (see system data below) so not sure what to do here.

    I have found that if you add /wp-json/ before /wc/store/v1/cart?_locale=user it “shows” data but I am not sure of what part of the WooCommerce process is firing all of this.

    Any help would be great!

    The URL /wc/store/v1/cart?_locale=user is part of the WooCommerce REST API which is typically used for creating, reading, updating, and deleting data from your WooCommerce store. The /wp-json/ prefix is required to access the REST API.

    The 404 errors could be due to a plugin or theme trying to access the REST API without the /wp-json/ prefix. To diagnose this, I recommend conducting a conflict test as below:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

    If you do not see the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To determine which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    If this makes no difference, then check whether you are accessing your website via any third-party services using REST API.

    At this point I can make the error happen (which is NOT seen by myself) by just hitting the “shop” link on the main menu.

    I may have found the culprit in Asset CleanUp Pro: Page Speed Booster

    Which makes no sense as it’s a caching plugin and has always been active since the site has been.

    If you suspect that the Asset CleanUp Pro: Page Speed Booster plugin is causing the issue, I recommend temporarily deactivating it to see if the error persists.

    Caching plugins can sometimes cause unexpected behavior due to how they handle data storage and retrieval. Even if they have always been active on your site, a recent update or a conflict with another plugin or theme could have triggered the issue.

    After deactivating the plugin, clear your browser cache and try accessing the “shop” link again. If the error no longer occurs, the issue is likely with the Asset CleanUp Pro plugin.

    Additionally, flushing permalinks also sometimes resolves the link not found error: https://orixlab.net/flush-wordpress-permalinks/
