Lots of user registrations with @gawab.com email addy

  • Hi Guys

    I’ve been running one of my blogs for approx 10 months now and all of a sudden I have had an influx of users registering with my blog with an @gawab.com email addy.

    Not posting anything, just sat their looking suspicious. ??

    I say suspicious becuase I have had about 15 users register (out of the 18 I have had in the last 10 months) all with a @gawab.com address in the last three days.

    No posts, no comments or anything from these users.

    I’m running the latest release of WP – Anything I need to be worried about by these users?

    I recon they may be up to something ??

    Any views appreciated ??

    Well, I got your message okay. I’ll go and censor it in a moment.

    Sorry, but
    a) there were about 10 people asking for the same thing
    b) most didn’t seem to realise that other people were asking the same question, and
    c) none of the responses dealt with the problem.

    I only posted on those threads which were SPECIFICALLY looking for the solution that I wrote. I’ve posted the solution on the www.ads-software.com suggestions board – but I dunno how many people will find it there. And the reason for posting on each thread is that if people are being notified about replies to their own thread by email, then they’ll each be able to see what the fix is.

    Sorry if you are subscribed to all the threads and got 10 nearly identical posts – but I’ve little doubt that you’d be able to sort this problem out for yourself anyway.

    I don’t want or need the traffic – I’m not selling anything, I have got adsense ads, but I’ve lost the details for the account anyway (!) – there isn’t even the place to pay me if you find my fix the most useful thing since sliced bread! I don’t have a plugin so I won’t be glorified that way, either. I am just offering a relatively easy fix to a widely-shared problem that hasn’t been addressed anywhere else to my knowledge.

    So chill out yourself.
