Love it but…

  • It’s a great addon but charging for the use of Google Captcha plugin? Come on…
    Also, no way to add a custom guest image instead of the boring grey silhouette.
    Edit: Lowered to one star since devs are still hiding the free Google Captcha solution behind a paywall. I’m getting bombed with spam comments and the automatich spam protection fails every time.
    Also uninstalling this plugin from all my domains since there are lot’s of better captcha friendly comment plugins out there.

    Thank you for the review. Both are already solved. This month we release a major version of wpDiscuz. It comes with free builtin reCAPTCHA and with an option to add default image for guests and other commenters who don’t have avatar.
    The major version comes very soon, so you can be sure these concerns are solved and you can rate wpDiscuz higher without any doubt.

    I’ll try to answer as clear as possible why wpDiscuz – reCAPTCHA addon is not free:

    1. wpDiscuz already has an alternative free CAPTCHA. wpDiscuz comes with free CAPTCHA which is not just a simple CAPTCHA, it’s boosted CAPTCHA and has double (image text + secure key) spam protection ability. We’ve already cared a free and built in CAPTCHA solution for you.

    2. wpDiscuz reCAPTCHA addon is not a simple solution for Login form, Register form or for Contact Forms. This kind of reCAPTCHA integration are very easy and those should be free. But wpDiscuz reCAPTCHA is not the same case. Adding reCAPTCHA on a dynamic comment system with AJAX form loading type and with live update functions is a huge work. The another big challenge is turning this most “device-screen-size-non-responsive” CAPTCHA solution to a “responsive” reCAPTCHA on all device screens and dynamically changing reCAPTCHA on different width of comment forms/reply levels. I can say this is the one of hardest feature we’ve ever developed for wpDiscuz.

    3. If for some reason the reCAPTCHA is essential for your website and you can’t pay this price just contact us via support[at]gvectors.com email address, and we’ll send you discount coupon to get it with minimal price. We’re always open for that.
