Firstly, thank you very much for this plugin.

Unfortunately, it is lacking one essential feature. Is there any way to check how many words have been written in the TineMCE and use the count as a required number?

Also, how exactly does the code check the requirements? Does it do it via jQuery (shows publish button when all fields are met) or does it do it server-side (check upon saving of post)? I am asking this because some users may have JS disabled.

Thank you again and hope that we can get this final feature working. I would love to help.

    lamonlythird,

I have thought about adding this feature, but I’m not really sure its an essential one. There are various SEO plugins that display visual feedback based on the number of words in the WYSIGYG, so for now, I think that will suffice.

I’ll actually be taking some time away and will not be adding any features to this until the end of summer. Doesn’t mean I’m going away… just means I need a break right now. I’ll come back late summer with fresh eyes and a better feeling about where I’d like to take this plugin.

And yes, this uses javascript to hide the publish button until required fields are met. There are other plugins out there that check on publish button click – I’m going for something different here. I’m displaying feedback BEFORE the user tries to publish. The other way is too clunky, in my opinion, and causes unnecessary frustration for the user. It might not work for users with js disabled – but, those users aren’t enjoying many other features, either.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    lamonlythird,

This feature has been implemented and will be available as a paid feature when the next major release drops.
