Loving this plugin guys, it is simple enough not to overwhelm and yet feature rich to be exactly what MOST people really need. It is amazing to see how many bloated plugins and themes of these sort are out there, it has been a true challenge finding one that fits perfectly and wpcasa does!

I do have one question tho, how do you guys handle the “gallery” functionality on a given listing? For reference have a look at this: https://demo.wpcasa.com/stage/listing/unique-villa-with-private-beach/

Now I totally get the idea that this is a specific theme and not something part of the core of wpcasa, but that’s partly my point. I figured this should be part of the core plugin or at least be made available via a plugin (even if paid) that we could display a gallery of images instead of just the feature image on a given listing.

A simple solution (and my work around for now) is probably to use a gallery-type shortcode on the content area of the listing, but that doesn’t feel very clean and does rely on use of shortcodes (which is a bit of a hassle for non technical users).

I am also exploring the possibility of using a gallery specific plugin instead that would be easier to manage but I can’t help to think that this is something that should be made available one way or another. This is something I would not mind paying for and I am sure a lot of people will be looking for that functionality as well.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

    Hi redstormj,

Thanks a lot for your interest in WPCasa and for your kind words! Your detailed feedback is much appreciated.

As you already mentioned the gallery feature is currently part of our paid themes as an image gallery, in my opinion, in general is more theme territory than basic functionality.

But still, I also agree with you that we need a basic gallery in the core plugin as many users stumble upon that. We usually recommend a third party gallery plugin (e.g. Foo Gallery). But maybe that’s too bloated too and does not make use of our own custom meta boxes.

Again, thanks for your feedback! We are currently a bit backed up with theme creation and plugin updates. But as soon as we can we will work out a solution.

    Best regards,

Hey Simon, thanks so much for your response.

I was able to make a simple plugin myself to achieve this functionality and it works rather well (about the same as your premium themes). I have no plans on releasing this because I do not yet have access to hooks and filters information for an appropriate integration. Instead I am relying on a custom template file which isn’t the cleanest approach.

So once you guys have a bit more documentation so I can have a proper plugin coded and if within your licenses terms I will release this as a free addon plugin to the basic plugin.

    Cheers,

    Hey Jose,

Yes, we definitely need to improve our documentation here to make sure developers like you find what they need without digging through the code.

Would love to see your add-on.

    Un saludo,

Sure thing Simon, as soon as I have it nicely packaged I’ll be sure to make that available to you guys and anyone else using your plugin. It is the least I can do!

    Cheers,
