Low truck rates returned intermittently from Fedex

    We get FedEx LTL truck rates returned from FedEx that are very low (in the $50 range) from time to time. When we check the rates returned in debug mode they are higher and correct. We upgraded to version 3.3.7 last week and the problem still happens but it is intermittant so customers get the rate and we can’t duplicate the problem.

    I can’t determine if it is a FedEx issue or an issue with the plugin. Is there some default rate that is used if FedEx can not return a rate?

  • Currently, there is no default rate available for FedEx. Our plugin will display the rate returned from API. This issue may be happening because of the browser cache. Please try again after clearing browser cache. Let me know if the problem persists.

    Actually we are getting closer to an answer of some sorts. We just figured out that the freight displayed at a reasonable rate in the cart and when we went to checkout the rate dropped dramatically. I am guessing that our problem will be solved partially by turning off the option to see the rates in the cart. That would decrease the functionality of the plugin though.

    We are close to just using flat rate shipping because we are getting a little frustrated and figure we can manage that better although it takes a lot to set it up.

    Turning off the calculator in the cart does produce the consistent result from the cart to the checkout page.

    I am thinking the adjustments made to the shipping methods may have been applying in the calculator in the cart and then also applied again on the checkout screen.

    For the time being we are turning off the calculator on the cart page.
