Magazine site done entirely in WordPress

that is a beautiful site ?? The only thing I might take issue with is the colors only because i think that scheme is getting overused. The structure and layout, however is wonderful.

It took a bit to load for me at home btw, was fine at work earlier this morning though.

As for the colour scheme I understand your point but that looked the best for my money so we stuck with it.

Hopefully the site will be pretty speedy now as I’m using WP Super Cache to serve all pages as html and gzip compression.

oh, I understand your choice — i like the colors; there’s a reason they are oversued (imo), because they look great. That wasnt intended to be a knock. I guess I wasnt clear ??

This is a great looking site! I just posted a question about using WP as a CMS for my business site. Looking at your site answered that question. Now, I just need to figure out how to do all this.

CM1967 – using it as a CMS is not too hard if you’re well versed in HTML/CSS/and a bit of php. I also know WordPress pretty much inside out after using it for such a long time.

However the support for WP is now so good that you can probably get a good site up and running with your first install of WP.

The https://www.huckmagazine.com website is heavily modded and a month or so to get up and running.

Your site looks great. I have a question though, how are you handling e-mail spam (looking at your contact page)? I ask because I really don’t like my contact form all that much and I’m thinking of going back to doing it like you do.

to obscure the email address in the HTML. It’s not a perfect solution but seems to work pretty well a keep our email addresses fairly spam free.

Good luck with using WordPress as a CMS.

Couple of tips I’ve learnt…

• Conditional tags are beautiful things. Read up on them.
• Wp Super Cache will speed up your site and ease the load on the server if you get lots of traffic.
• Breadcrumbs NavXT, Search Unleashed, RC:custom_field_gui are all very useful plugins (there are tons more that can help…one of the best things about using WP)

I’m sure there’s more that I can’t think of now. At some point I think I might write a guide to using WP as a CMS…

“Top shelf” has a rude connotation? That’s news to me. I always thought it meant like the liquor at a bar, the good stuff is on the top shelf.

Edit: Okay, so I went to urbandictionary and looked it up. That’s nasty, dude. Some people have too much time on their hands to come up with that sort of nonsense.

I think it might be a UK thing? Dirty magazines are always put on the top shelf so little kids can’t see them. They are thus called ‘Top shelf magazines’. Not something Huck would like to be associated with!
