I love Enlighter and have been using it a lot on my new post im creating but wanted to add some other elements to the page so I searched for a shortcode plugin. The best I found was Magee Shortcodes as it had everything I wanted/needed. The problem is when it’s activated it messes up the code elements I’ve added with Enlighter (it shows the same code in all the elements I’ve added).

I would post over at the Magee forum but it’s dead over there and they don’t seem to respond to posts and are nowhere near as helpful as you are here in this forum.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    Cheers

    hi groovycrypto,

i have to experience with “magee shortcode” plugin, therefore i didn’t know whats going wrong. do you’ve tried to send an email to the plugin author ?

what exactly happened ? can you post an example (screenshot editor + frontend) of your problem ?
do you use the Enlighter Visual Editor mode or the legacy shortcode mode ?

    best regards, Andi

    Hi Andi,

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been super busy at work.

Ok so I’ve just been playing with some things and have figured out what’s the cause (it’s 2 things, I think).

So with Magee Shortcodes activated I created a test post and added a few (5 block-codes and 1 inline-code) Enlighter Shortcodes (what’s this Enlighter Visual Editor mode???) using the button in the post editor screen.

When I viewed the post there was no problem. So I did a bit of digging and realised the problem with the other post which was playing up involved a specific line of code.

    /swapfile none swap sw 0 0

This is what the post looks like before adding the above line of code in an Enlighter shortcode.

And this is what it looks like after adding that line of code in an Enlighter shortcode.

If I then deactivate Magee Shortcodes and refresh the post it looks like this, exactly how it should.

I then thought it must be something specific within that line of code so I deleted each word one at a time to see which it was and it wasn’t any of them, in the end I had to delete the whole shortcode to get the page back to as it should have been.

I hope this all makes sense. Also I did create a post on their support forum but there has been no reply!

    Thanks again for your help.

    hi groovycrypto,

which shortcode processor do you use for Enlighter ? (Enlighter -> Editing -> Shortcodes -> Processor) – please try the other one ??

Instead of using shortcodes, Enlighter provides a very comprehensive integration into the WordPress Visual Editor (TinyMCE) – https://github.com/EnlighterJS/Plugin.WordPress/blob/master/docs/Usage_VisualEditor.md
This method avoids a lot of possible problems which may occur with shortcodes.

i’ve currently no idea what exactly gone wrong in your case.

    best regards, Andi

    Hi Andi,

    Thanks again for the reply.

Yeah that’s how I added all of the code snippets using the Visual Editor. Whilst I was trying to solve the problem I also changed all the Enlighter settings trying to get it to work including the shortcode processor but nothing worked.

I am now using another shortcode plugin which has no side effects but it’s a shame as it is not as good as the Magee one. Never mind.

    Thanks again for your help.
