Images gallery with filter category (categroy_name) is not displayed. When I use IDs, the images are displayed. What am I doing wrong?

    • WordPress 6.1.1 (german)
    • Theme Twenty Twenty Three
    • MLA Version 3.05

    Short Codes:

    [mla_gallery category_name=blumen]

    [mla_gallery ids=”3500, 3501, 3499″]

Thanks for your question, and thanks for including the text of your shortcode; very helpful.

When filtering a gallery on a taxonomy term the parameter name is the “slug” for the taxonomy in which the term(s) are assigned. If your term is in the WordPress Categories taxonomy, use category=blumen. If your term is in MLA’s Att. Categories, use attachment_category=blumen. That should get you the results you seek.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions regarding the above suggestions. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

Thank you very much for pointing this out. That was my confusion. Your plugin is really powerful and exactly what I was looking for. It is not very easy to get started. I will try to write an article on my blog with a step-by-step guide, for a dynamic gallery. Now I just need to figure out how to customize the look.

Thanks for your update with the good news on your progress.

You wrote “Now I just need to figure out how to customize the look.” You can make simple improvements with shortcode parameters such as mla_caption and mla_margin. More information can be found in the “Gallery Display Style” and “Gallery Display Content” sections of the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab.

For more complete control, you can use “Style and Markup Templates”. Find the details in the Documentation tab.

    Good luck with your application.
