I have a site with about 50 users, and many of them do not receive the emails. I’ve noticed that AOL users cannot receive emails at all (even when sent to just a single user). Most of the time, Gmail marks the message as spam. Is there any way to better ensure the reliability of the email delivery? Thanks!

There is little the Email Users plugin can do to avoid being tagged as spam. Email gets stamped by your server environments underlying infrastructure and it isn’t uncommon for the reply address set up for Email Users to be a complete mismatch from your server itself. Particularly in a shared hosting situation.

There are a couple things you can try – you can employ a SMTP plugin and configure it to use GMail’s SMTP gateway to send your email. I have heard of a couple people doing that.

Other people have used solutions like wpMandrill conjunction with Email Users to send out their email.

+1 for an SMTP plugin and also, if you use a custom domain, make sure you have an SPF record set as many mail servers (e.g. Gmail) use that when judging spam.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. The issue definitely seems related to the difference between the reply address and the wacky address my hosting provider uses. I installed SMTP Postman and got this working very quickly. Thanks again, been at this a while and hadn’t thought of this!!
