Mail Poet Lists and…
-
I have created another list and form that we will use for different emails (lets say coupons) – this will contain other form fields than or newsletter list we already have.
When testing the coupon form I submit a test submission to the new coupon list. I use a same email address as test-user already existing on newsletter list. I enter different first name and last name (to see what happens) and how additional text fields work. After looking at the list for the new subscriber it does not show as a unique subscriber in that list, and name is same as original newsletter subscriber (does not updated this).
Should I use segmentation here instead, to create a unique list and subscribers? Does MP always check if the email address is already part of another list and simply adds them to the additional list too?
The coupon welcome email is sent but in addition, so is the general ‘confirm your email address’ again – even if user is on newsletter list and confirmed. If it is the case, that MP see’s that the user already exists on the newsletter list, doesn’t use the new form data to update that users name, why does it send another email asking to confirm their email? Shouldn’t this be either/or? If on the list do not send new confirm email? Or, user is on the newsletter list already and update name to newest submission?
We are also not being notified that a new user subscribed to the new list – ‘New subscriber notifications’ is checked in settings. Is this due to the same issue where user is already on the newsletter list so it now does not generate that email?
Thanks for any explanation, suggestions and help!
