`Hi there, I’m attempting to create a form in both original and in the grid layout with smart-grid plugin. However, mail tags are not showing nor auto-updating if field names are edited or changed. I have some Cf7 plugins installed, now deactivated – but nothing changes – as in it still doesn’t work.

So, I’m creating a form with tags e.g. mail tag as “shooting-email” for testing only. The new tag doesn’t show on the mail template screen. When I edit/add the email tag to the mail form instead of using “your-email”, it then has an exclamation mark with a linked error warning to “Invalid mailbox syntax is used in the Reply-To field.” Have trippled checked that both the form and mail tag is exactly the same. When trying to save – it exits without error, then returns to the sidebar menu of “Posts”.

This has only happened since updating to WordPress 6.0. I have deactivated all other plugins and left only the CF7 Smart Grid Design Extension plugin active.

Have I missed something basic or has the update to WP 6.0 caused an undocumented feature? ?? Have created and customised forms in the past with no issues. Is there something else needed to have the form tags update on the mail section?

I’ve been following your YouTube links and they make sense :), but the applications are acting differently ??

    Hope there’s a simple solve ??

    Cheers
    Jocelyn

However, mail tags are not showing nor auto-updating if field names are edited or changed.

mail tags in the ‘Mail’ tab settings will not update until you update the form (save), this is a CF7 plugin limitation.

If you use a mail tag in the mail itself, you will need to manually update it.

then returns to the sidebar menu of “Posts”.

this is a sign that there is an error on your server. Can you check both the JavaScript console for any errors as well as your server for PHP errors by enabling WP_DEBUG mode

as of now I have not had any issues with my WP6.0 setup on my server and the plugin is working fine.

Is this a fresh setup for you?

    Hello Aurovrata,

Thank you for such a quick timely response – really appreciate it. It ‘was’ a fresh install with a number of plugins pre-installed that I had used before. I tried using different browsers, and upon hitting the ‘update’ the code continued to exit to the Posts menu. To be honest.. I gave up. I did manage to check out the PHP history. There were a number of warnings (like over 200) for non-active plugins, mainly the contact-form-7-paypal-add-on (only 4 for this one) and cf7-skins-innozilla (many warnings with this one). Both were not activated – so I’m not sure why there were so many errors. Nothing showed for any CF7 plugins.

I then ran a couple of the WordPress cleaner plugins – but these had no effect to fix the issue either. I totally gave up this point. Fully deleted wordpress and tables. I’m now running another fresh install! Good news, so far everything is working, I’ve managed to create a number of partial forms and have had no issue updating them. So I think the problem was definitely on my server side. But I do thank you so much for your replying to my request for help! Really appreciate it and I pray no further issues LOL

Do you do any custom work at all as I have a particular dynamic field that would make my team’s life really easy, and wondering at all if you can help (in regards to the Smart Grid and the Post My CF7 Form plugins) for a non-profit registered organisation?

I look forward to your response and again, thank you for your awesome support!=.

    Cheers
    Jocelyn

    Hi Jocelyn

yeah! I too have faced such issue in the past with my onw installations and can be related to multiple server issues, so without a debug log it’s difficult to give you some pointers.

Do review the plugin when you have some spare time.

Do you do any custom work

sure, although I am now quite busy at work so depending on the quantum of work I may not be able to develop in a timely manner.

What do you have in mind?
