When I enter my MailChimp API Key, I get the red x next to the key instead of green check. My account is in good standing, how do I find out why this doesn’t work?

    Hello,

Are you having problems with your pre-existing forms not working, or just creating new forms? First make sure you are updated v1.8.1 . Also make sure you copy your key as plain text, and have no extra characters. You can also try getting a new key from MailChimp, it will often resolve connection issues.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi there, I am having the same problem. I am running v1.8.1, have made sure that my key is copy/pasted in plain text with no extra characters and have even tried generating a new API key from mailchimp. Red x next to key still remains.

    Any suggestions?

I went through everything suggested with this plugin, and also with another MailChimp plugin. Both had the same problem. The problem was that Akamai, the MailChimp Firewall was blocking the IP address of my shared hosting server. I contacted my hosting provider, and they were unable to help, other than saying they were working with Akamai to try and resolve the issue. It was suggested to me to change hosting providers since there was no way to unblock the IP. Since I have a re-seller account, that was not really a valid option. All of my websites on this server that used MailChimp were broken.

After WEEKS of nothing being done (I tried to get my hosting provider to move my whole account to a new server, which of course they wouldn’t do), the problem “magically” went away. I sincerely hope you have better luck with this than I did. Waiting for “magic” doesn’t really appeal to developers! Good luck!

Thank you very much for that information. It was very helpful.

If the above steps aren’t doing anything, see if you get different results from another plugin. It needs to attach to your MailChimp account through the API the same way ours does. If the symptoms are the same, your issue may be similar to Janet’s. try contacting your web host, and mailchimp, to see if there is a resolution.

Let us know if we can do anything else, I’ll keep this thread open for a while longer.
