I’m trying to get an integrated form to display on my page. I have it set up to auto add subscribers to a specific tag in my MailChimp audience (for an email sequence I am setting up).

When I add the short code, I can see the form in the WordPress environment. However, when I preview the page (both in Firefox and Chrome), the page just tries to load, and nothing on the page shows. (I did try to turn off the “Loading” pre-loader but that didn’t resolve the issue.)

If anyone has insight on how to resolve this, I would appreciate it.

    If it helps:

    WordPress – 5.6
    Elementor – v3.0.15
    Mailchimp for WordPress – 4.8.1
    PHP – 7.1

    Thanks,

    Ken

    Hey Ken,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Is the loading issue only caused when our shortcode is placed on the page? Also, to debug this further, can you please disable any caching plugins like “Auto Optimize” and let us know?

    I have found one thing:

I started playing with the Autoptimize plug-in. I turned off the “Optimize JavaScript Code?” option. The page then started working.

The problem with this “solution” is that my Google Page Speed drops down from 50 to 29–which will destroy my page ranking.

If I find anything else out, I’ll let you know.

More info on the Autoptimize plug-in:

The page breaks when I also have “Aggregate JS-files?” checked (just beneath “Optimize JavaScript Code?”. If I un-check “Aggregate JS-files?” while leaving “Optimize JavaScript Code?” checked the page shows up (but again, with that horrible page speed that I have to improve).

I’ve have two images (“mailchimp-shortcode-works.jpg” and “mailchimp-shortcode-works-does-not-work.jpg”) to better show what I am trying to describe. But I don’t see that I can attach them here.

    Hey @kendillard,

Can you please share the link to the 2 images so I can check? Also, can you please set the options that make the page work but at a slow speed? I’ll then check if there are any errors.

The page is currently set to appear and the current page speed is 26.

Please let me know if you need any additional information from me.

    Thanks,

    Ken

I believe Autoptimize has settings where you can exclude some scripts from their minification? I recommend to look into that. I expect it to be some compatibility issues between multiple plugins / scripts that is causing this and excluding either one or both of the clashing scripts should usually solve it.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!

I may have to do a lot more tinkering with settings. Now the page only works when I’m logged into WordPress.

I appreciate all of the attempts to work through this. Hopefully, I’ll get it resolved soon to be able to take advantage of the functionality I aim to use.
