    Hi

I am using Loco Translate and the Mailchimp For WP plugin my website. But the Mailchimp form is not translated to French, whereas the Fr language is 100% completed for the MailChimp For WP plugin as you can see on this screeshot:

    mail

Here’s the custom form code I added (using a shortcode) for the Mailchimp form in a widget area:

    `<input type=”email” name=”EMAIL” placeholder=”Your email address” required />
    <input type=”submit” value=”Sign up” />`

The English texts in your example code have not been made translatable.

Only strings made translatable by the Mailchimp plugin author will be editable via the translation files. Simply adding HTML will not work.

Ha ok, I see. What are my options Tim ?

    Thanks

You have to localise your code. Loco Translate cannot help you do that. It’s a development task.

You could try contacting the plugin author, but I have no way of knowing whether they provide support for translatable customisations.

If they can’t help, I suggest you ask for coding help on a more general forum.

Isn’t there a way to add markup in the custom html code so that Loco recognizes this is a translation ?

Or to use “Widget logic” with Loco and selectively display a particular form depending on the language ?

No. The process for localising a plugin is much more complex than this. If I could give you simple solution, I would have done so.

Loco Translate does not work in the way you assume it does. It is an editor for the text made translatable by the author.

Loco Translate is not involved at this level of logic. It manages files and provides an editor. The kind of thing you’re talking about here would have to be coded into your plugin.

ok I see thanks for your responses.

It’s still weird that the authors of Mailchimp for WP haven’t made the texts “translatable”.

    Thanks

It is the code you added that isn’t translatable.
