Hi! Ive really liked & used this plug in for years..now Mailchimp has “customer jouneys” to automate Welcome emails. my client has a simple one set up. When people sign up using the OptinCat pop up or the post embed short form, they DO get added to the client email list, but they DONT receive a Welcome email of any sort. is there documentation on this? My client specifically requests this to be automated; is this only something for the Premium version?

    thank you!

    Hi Mapgrrl,

    Thanks for your message.

If the email is getting added to the client email list, that is a good sign.

What is the welcome email meant to be? I tested the optin at the bottom of the link you kindly sent and I got an email with the subject line – “Explore the Magic of Art at Glitter Barn!”. Then it gives a promo code in the email body.

If the welcome email is not firing, I would double-check the trigger for this. Perhaps the trigger is expecting something else to happen.

If there is anything else, don’t hesitate to get back to us.

    All the best.

    Hi Mapgrrl,

Just to follow up, I got another email with the subject line – “Don’t Miss This Saturday at Glitter Barn!”.

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to let us know.

    All the best.

thank you so much for looking into this! I’m really glad that you received the welcome emails! I’m not sure why the testing didn’t work for us but maybe once an email had already been added once it doesn’t do the customer journey . Is there any documentation for this? Also does getting the pro version of the plug-in make a difference? I want to encourage my client to buy it, especially if there is support for this. In the meantime Ill look into the Trigger. I have a feeling that this will be a one-time issue .

    Hi Mapgrrl,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, most likely the email needs to be new to the list to activate the trigger to send the emails. When testing you can use an alias like “mapgrrl+test1@your_email.com”. That will work as a new email in your list but you will still receive the email follow-ups to your inbox.

You can check with your email provider for documentation. Most likely this just impacts emails already added.

In Optin Cat, there is an option to not display the optin form to someone who has already used it. https://fatcatapps.com/knowledge-base/success-cookie/

If there is anything else, feel free to get back to us.

    All the best.
