I am trying to enable the MailChimp popup from on the website using the Jetpack module with no avail. I followed the instructions but I still get “Uh oh, we couldn’t connect your site. Check your code and try again.” message in MailChimp dashboard and the popup does not appear. Could anyone please help?

    Howdy –

sugidama.co.uk is not actively connected to Jetpack. Please reestablish that connection and then let us know once you do. We can’t do any troubleshooting if the plugin is not connected.

Hi, thanks a lot for getting back. It shows “Your site is connected to WordPress.com. You are the Jetpack owner.” and the account is also connected.

The site is not connected. When I go to https://jetpack.com/support/debug/ and put in sugidama.co.uk and search – there is not established Jetpack connection.

Try turning off all the plugins on your site. Only reconnect and activate the Jetpack plugin. Then, run your site through https://jetpack.com/support/debug/ to see if it shows as being connected.

    Everything looks great!
All tests have passed for https://www.sugidama.co.uk and your Jetpack powered site looks good to go!

Only plain “www.sugidama.co.uk” worked. HTTP and HTTPS addresses though couldn’t resolve.

    Hi there,

I already see a popup, from Hello Bar on your site. If the Mailchimp pop-up is not working, that is the first thing I’d rule out – two plugins doing the same thing on a site is never recommended, and liable to cause conflicts. Please try disabling that plugin, and then see if the Mailchimp pop-up works.

I followed the instructions but I still get “Uh oh, we couldn’t connect your site. Check your code and try again.

Where exactly are you seeing this message? On your site’s dashboard, or in Mailchimp?

If you’re setting up the Pop-up form included in Jetpack, you do not need to connect your site to Mailchimp for the pop-up to work. You just need to code generated by them, as explained in https://jetpack.com/support/extra-sidebar-widgets/mailchimp-subscriber-popup-widget/

Hi, sorry, I’ve been using Hello Bar since yesterday as the MailChimp popup doesn’t work for me. Basically I’ve got a code from MailChimp and I paste it into Jetpack MailChimp (popup) widget but the popup doesn’t appear. On the MailChimp side I’ve got this message that the site is not connected with MailChimp. It used to work before and there was no error message. I can revert it back to MailChimp popup for you to see if there’s a problem on the Jetpack side. It just looks like we have a time difference. So I can do it in the evening my time so you could take a look when it’s morning in your timezone.

And the code looks similar to the screen shot in the support page for this widget?

When you checked your site, were you still logged into the admin account? Or did you check the site while logged out/incognito?

On the MailChimp side I’ve got this message that the site is not connected with MailChimp. It used to work before and there was no error message.

Whether or not your site is connected with Mailchimp shouldn’t matter for this particular form. However, if you’re unable to connect with Mailchimp it’s likely due to the XML-RPC errors we’re also seeing for your site in the Jetpack debugger. The Jetpack connection is not broken, but some of our calls to your server are timing out, and it’s possible the Mailchimp connection is running into the same issue.

Please add the Mailchimp widget again, yes, and remove the Hello Bar one.

We’re multiple people who help in this forum, and we work at different times during the day across different timezones, so it’s a bit tricky to co-ordinate a specific time so we can test this in real time ??

    Yes, it is. Something like
    <script id="mcjs">!function(c,h,i,m,p){m=c.createElement(h),p=c.getElementsByTagName(h)[0],m.async=1,m.src=i,p.parentNode.insertBefore(m,p)}(document,"script","https://chimpstatic.com/mcjs-connected/js/users/......js");</script>

When you checked your site, were you still logged into the admin account? Or did you check the site while logged out/incognito?

I use a different browser in incognito mode.

Please add the Mailchimp widget again, yes, and remove the Hello Bar one.

All is done. I have deactivated Hello Bar for now and pasted the code into the widget again.

Okay, I think I see what the problem is.

To which widget area in your theme did you add the Mailchimp widget? For the code to work, the widget needs to be loaded in the browser, and that will only happen if the widget area itself appears on the particular page.

And your site’s front page does not appear to include any widget areas, meaning even if the widget is added correctly, it’s not being loaded on that page.

Please make sure the widget is added to a widget area that’s always visible on your site. I see you’re using the Oceanwp theme and Elementor, so you might need to configure something there to get this to work.
