MailPoet and disabling WP_CRON (running wp-cron.php via cron job)

I am considering disabling WP_CRON and instead setting up a cron job on my server to run wp-cron.php at some regular interval.

Will MailPoet still be able to run normally under these conditions?

I have my newsletters set to send in batches of 20 every 30 minutes, so I am thinking I would set up my cron job to run every 30 minutes or less. I just don’t want wp-cron.php running on every page load, especially during high-traffic times.
