    Hey,

I am using MailPoet3 and WP Mail Logging plugins in my site. Though the MailPoet emails are being sent out successfully, they are not logged in the WP Mail Log list. Any hints?

I am using standard wordpress sending method, but have also tested all the other sending methods: Amazon SES and my own hosting. The mailpoet3 emails are not being logged.

    cheers

I have actually just tested this on my site and I got the same result. It seems that WP Mail Log only logs transactional emails and not those sent by MailPoet.

While both plugins were somehow linked in the past, WP Mail Log is not owned, developed or supported now by MailPoet. Anyway, I have asked about this to our developers (I’m curious too) and will get back to you with an update soon.

In the meantime, you can also head to the WP Mail Log support forum and ask about this there, they might be able to shed some light on this issue: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wp-mail-logging/

    Cheers!

    Hi Dani

Thanks a lot for your message.

FYI: Any other Mail-Logging plugin I’ve tested is not logging the outgoing MailPoet3 Emails either ??

    Hi again @rodentooth ????

You’re welcome, I have already heard back from the devs:

If MailPoet is set to send emails via host, then even newsletters would be logged there. But when using the MailPoet Sending Service, your site sends a request to the MailPoet Sending Service to send the newsletter on your site’s behalf.

From the WP Mail Logging point of view, the newsletter is not sent from the website, so there is nothing to log.

This is why those emails are note logged with either WP Mail Log or other alternatives.

Having said all this, I think that your point makes sense, and it would be great to have a way to log all the emails sent from MailPoet within the plugin. It would be great if you could add that to as a suggestion here https://feedback.mailpoet.com

Our team will take it into account when discussing new features and improvements for the plugin ??

    Cheers!

    Hi Dani

    Many thanks for your reply.

If MailPoet is set to send emails via host, then even newsletters would be logged there

I have now tested the following settings, send with:
    – SMTP
    – Own Host

I have made sure that in the advanced tab, the settings from above would be chosen over the standard wordpress send method

That being said, the emails sent by MailPoet are nowhere to be found (although being sent successfully) I looked in the following places:

    – MailPoet Logs (Log settings -> log everything)
    – Wp mail log plugins: “E-Mail Log” and “WP Mail Logging”
    – the sent folder of my chosen SMTP account

At last, when I choose in the advanced settings tab that MailPoet should use the standard wordpress send method, isn’t the function wp_mail() being used? Therefore, this sending method should allow plugins like “WP Mail Logging” to catch MailPoets’ outgoing mails. But why isn’t that the case?

    Many thanks for your time.

Thanks, I will await your answer

    Hi there @rodentooth,

    Thank you for your patience!

MailPoet does not use wp_mail(). Instead, we utilize the underlying PHP-Mailer library when sending with the host, SwiftMailer for the SMTP option, and MSS for the MailPoet Sending Service option.

None of these options support or provide hooks that WP-Mail-Logging follows, which is why the data does not get passed.

Please share your feedback on https://feedback.mailpoet.com so our developers see the demand for this feature.

Enjoy the rest of your day and stay safe!
