    Hi,

Mailpoet is making many requests to my server “hosting” that has consumed 80% of my CPU of my server (siteground) “mailpoet hitting the limit consistently”.

    I got this message:

    “POST /?mailpoet_router&endpoint=cron_daemon&action=run&data=eyJ0b2tlbiI6IjFvcmJvIn0 HTTP/1.1” 499 0 “https://mysite.com/?mailpoet_router&endpoint=cron_daemon&action=run&data=eyJ0b2tlbiI6IjFvcmJvIn0” “MailPoet Cron” | TLSv1.3 | – 4.901 4.900 – 0 NC:000000 UP:-

    What have I done:

    1. Mailpoet > Settings > Advanced > Newsletter Task scheduler (cron) I changed Visitors to your website (recommended) to “Server side cron (linux cron)”

    2. In siteground > Site tools > Dev > Cron > I created new cron job with set to Once Per Hour (0****).

in MailPoet Advance settings, it says “frequency running every minute: *1***” Not sure why it says something different in the settings than what I set in SiteGround.`

My problem is how I can verify if the problem is solved or what should I do so that mailpoet does not consume all my CPU?because that will generate a cost of more than £ 150.

    thank you,

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Yes, MP3 took my entire site down due to excessive CPY cycles. A Major problem.

Yeah, I’m on SiteGround and using MailPoet. The update on November 4 pegged my CPU until I ran out of my month’s CPU minutes. For now, the solution is to delete MailPoet. I’ll be watching for updates. For now, it’s unusable.

Ok, you inspired me to setup a cron. I think it’s working!

You can verify that your CPU is within limits by logging into SiteGround, select Services at the top, then select View Statistics from the menu that appears when you click the 3 vertical dots at the far right of your hosting plan. Scroll to the bottom to see your CPU Seconds over the last hour compared with your plan. Hit your site a few times and refresh this graph to ensure that your CPU Seconds isn’t increasing drastically.

    Good luck!

I had the same problem with MaillPoet 3 on a site hosted by SiteGround. Site suddenly went down – it had used its allotted quota of CPU seconds for the month and would be unavailable until December. Siteground gave me 30% more seconds so I could figure it out myself.

Looking back through the month I found CPU seconds shooting to circa 8000/hr from <250 starting 7 am November 4. I noticed that both SiteGround Optimizer and MailPoet had automatically updated at 6:57 am that morning. Using WP Rollback I went back to Mailpoet version 3.73.0 and soon the CPU hits on the graph in Services dropped back to normal. As far as I can tell the timing of the upgrade to SG Optimizer was coincidence; the problem is with MailPoet.

Thanks for tip about somehow adjusting a “chron.” I’ll have to look into figuring this out if and when I have time. For the time being I just turned off MailPoet auto-updates.

Shared hosting on Bluehost seems to have a limit of not running a cron more frequently than once every 20 minutes. I set it up for once per minute, but it has reset to once every 20 minutes. Will this be frequent enough? I send a newsletter to about 1000 addresses with 70 or sent every 15 minutes. Will this work with a cron running every 20 minutes. Will they all get sent? In your example you have once per minute, but I can’t tell if that frequency is necessary.

Since version 3.73.0 – 2021-11-02 we also have to struggle with massive server loads. The cron creates massive load. We have dozens of MailPoet installations on the server and the Mailpoet cron regularly even crashes the server!

    Please fix immediately!

Such problems have also existed in the past with MailPoet and were then fixed. Now the problem is fully back.

With the mailpoet cron running every 20 minutes it looks like it will take more than 4 times as long to get the newsletter out. After 45 minutes it had sent 66 of 1000 emails. Using the mailpoet cron on shared hosting at Bluehost may not be a viable solution as Bluehost limits how often the cron can run.

Has MailPoet said a single word about this problem? Not a peep from them as I can see. WordPress, have you contacted MailPoet? Is anyone who has the capability doing anything about this? There is no telling how many more people are pulling their hair out trying to reolve a problem that they have no way to correct. Posted here are the few who went the host for help, and Site Ground responded quickly and accurately, as always.

    Hi everyone!

The fix was released yesterday so I’m closing the thread but if you still see any issues, you’re welcome to open a new one since it might be not related to the bug then.

    Cheers!
