MailPoet loads a lot of Google Fonts, Google Page Speed problems

    Hello MailPoet-Team and WP forum users,

    I’m using MailPoet Premium since May 2020 with a subscription form in my footer. And just realized that MailPoet is the root cause that in Google Search Console all my pages appear in yellow with too slow load times. It’s exactly the date when I went live with MailPoet.

    MailPoet loads a massive pack of Google Fonts (see below) slowing down my website. I can’t find any function how to disable Google Fonts. Even the plugin “Remove/Disable Google Fonts” isn’t able to remove this request to Google server. This might be also a bigger issue with GDPR.

    How can I disable Google Fonts for MailPoet and address my custom (local) fonts?

  • We understand that some users are not happy about loading Google Fonts, and that’s why we have a hook “mailpoet_display_custom_fonts” that users can use to stop loading it.

    You just need to add it to your functions.php file:

    add_filter('mailpoet_display_custom_fonts', function () {
    return false;
});
