Our MailPoet sending has been blocked. Please see email exchange below. Not sure what more I can do. I’ll have to change mailing application if MailPoet will not allow us to send our one newsletter per week.

    Hi,

Thanks for your detailed reply. This is what I can tell you:

We checked our logs and all of these complaints refer to your subscription confirmation emails. This could be happening if:

    – You are sending subscription confirmation emails to subscribers who didn’t request a subscription for your site; No we don’t; unless some kind of robot is using a real email address and that person is marking it as spam. We get about 60 false applications per week, which I tend to delete on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. However if they are pirating some real email addresses, I cannot control that.
    – Your opt-in checkbox is pre-checked or is a precondition of a service you offer; No
    – You’re not being clear about what the user is consenting to;Very clear – they enter their names and email address to register for our newsletter.
    - There was a bot attack on your subscription form (or any other form integrated with MailPoet) using some real email addresses. Clearly this is the case.

I have read the article you refer to in details and have gone through our site again. We have no WordPress users who are not meant to be there. I have deleted the inactive users and checked the option for all inactive users to be deleted after 6 months. We only send one email a week, usually.

I looked at our records, and I'm not seeing where you may have contacted us about a potential issue on your site. For context, the last support request we received from your account was in February 2018. Did you perhaps use a different email address to contact us? Yes I did – I used [email protected]

In the meantime, to reactivate your account, please confirm that you’re not sending confirmation emails to subscribers who didn’t ask for it and protect your site by following these steps. Also, ensure you’re using Google reCAPTCHA in your forms, as it's proved to be more effective against targeted bot attacks. Absolutely we are not sending confirmation emails to subscribers who didn’t ask for it.

So we were using the integrated captcha in Mailpoet; but from what you’re saying this is not very secure. After 2 hours (I’m not very hi-tech) I have managed to activate Google reCAPTCHA on our site.

Please could you restore the sending service for us. Thank you in advance,

  • Hi there @upboetendael,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I see that we already restored sending for your account and also sent you the follow-up on how to resume sending on your site.

I will close this thread as we’re communicating via email.

    Cheers!

Hi – this has not been resolved. I am communicating by email but then received an email from your support sending me back to the support forum saying that I am not a paying customer; so now I’m thoroughly confused. Are you dealing with the issue?

    Hi there @upboetendael,

Please don’t worry! We received your reply and the message you’re referring to is just an autoresponder.

Your ticket is logged and our support team will work on it!

    Cheers!
