it seems a problem related to the image lazy loading system, please try deactivating that option.

Yes, you right about lazy loading system. Deactivating Lazy Loading plugin solved problem with empty space on featured image, but there is still problem with “loading bar” and when you’re clicking on thumbnail – image is opening in new page (on safari. both desktop and mobile)
