I’ve been messing with themes/colors to try and get my site more guy friendly (it was nothin’ but pinks & purples) and was almost finished. Literally! I went thru every option, changed all the colors. Got all the way down to the last section, TEXT – for the headings, links, quotes and stuff.

Changed those colors, preview site, refresh and now my main menu links disappeared! It didn’t disappear, but something that I changed in the text options made my bar and links invisible. You can see the bar before, and after, the menu options (home, about me, etc) but in the spots where you should be able to click a page link, you see nuttin’. Youch!

I tried going back to the menu section and re-doing that, but nothin’ doin’. Then I tried putting the text back like it was, but I don’t remember how it was. lol Any chance someone can tell me what I did, and more importantly, how to UN do it?

To discover what CSS is output by your theme, use a web inspection tool such as Firebug: https://getfirebug.com/ , Chrome Inspect Element: https://developers.google.com/chrome-developer-tools/ or Internet Explorer 9+ F12 Dev. Tools: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd565627(v=vs.85).aspx#csstool

There are others.

When editing CSS, use a Child Theme

Custom CSS Plugin, or Theme provided custom CSS option.
Edits to parent themes are lost on theme update.

Thank you for the help. I AM using Firebug, and I’m trying to learn CSS, but I haven’t been able to figure out that problem.

It would really help if you could at least tell me WHERE the error is. I’m asking for help with a problem. Sending me to a page with 32 errors, most of which I didn’t code in the first place, isn’t helping me at all. The menu is invisible, after I changed something in the text section, which doesn’t make sense to me. If I knew where the code was that was messed up, I would have changed it back. Are you able to tell, by looking at your Firebug extension thingy, what I changed that made it go invisible? Because I can’t find it. If you can, I’d really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.

I am inundated with blog posts that are of no interest to me…over a hundred a day and want to STOP this madness…how do I keep from receiving these posts until I wish to view them??
