We are using the latest version of the Pure and Simple theme for our site https://www.wxintegrations.com. We have just discovered an issue with the menu when using it from a smartphone (Android – GS6 and Iphone). The content under the main menu item does not appear, only the content on the pages for the sub menu items comes up on our smart phones. For example on our page, if you go to the “about” page/section, we have company information listed on the “About” page and then three submenu items “the Team;” “Terms and Conditions;” and “Privacy Policy.” Only the Team, T&C and Privacy Policy pages are viewable in the mobile format. The “about” Page is not. It is the same with our other menu items, the content with the main page menu is not available but the sub menu pages content is viewable. The problem is not evident on larger screens such as an Ipad Mini, laptop or 20 inch monitor. We appreciate any assistance you can provide. Sincerely Diane Cooper

    Hi There,

We check our site and it works fine here, so could you check once because we didn’t get such issue in our theme. We hope you understand. We looks forward to your respond.

    Thanks.

I am not sure why you didn’t find the problem. Did you try from a smartphone? That is where we have the issue. Click on about (Not one of the submenues) Nothing changes. But if you click on about on a larger screen the page changes to show the information below (I wish I could attach a screen shot)

I am not able to see the “about” or any of the other main menu page (“Products and Services”, “Surveys” or “Contact”) in a mobile platform, I can only link to the submenu pages. It is a function of the code when it shrinks to just “Menu” and you have it listed vertically on a small screen size. When you can see the full menu offerings in a horizontal fashion the problem does not exist.

Confirmed. Running WordPress 4.4.2 and Pure & Simple 1.2.2. Desktop works fine. On mobile (confirmed on Android with Chrome), when you touch Menu > “parent page” the menu is expanded to see a list of subpages, but it doesn’t recognize the touch to go to the parent. A second touch simply collapses the menu. No way to display the parent page content.

    Hi there,

As per the WordPress standard top menu should be kept on # link. So please use # link on top/parnent menu

    It will solve your issue.

    Thanks

Could you provide an example of what you are referring to, I am confused by your instructions to use the “# link on teh top menue” what is the #link?. I didn’t change the coding/naming convention of the link. I used the Menu structure page to create the menu’s and submenus element on the page. .

    Thanks-

Greetings – Just checking if you could provide some clarification of your instructions above as I haven’t seen a reply.

    Sincerely-

I think what is meant by the response is to use a Custom Link menu item for the parent menu. IE: Go to Appearance > Menus, then instead of selecting a Page for the uppermost Parent menu, select Custom Link instead. Just a guess, I’ve not tested it.

rwb2073- thank you for the suggestion but unfortunately it did not work. We are still having issues with our main menu items not showing in mobile.

    Hi there,

You have placed submenu on surveys and about pages. This menu should be provided a custom links not page links. For this

Go to dashboard -> appearance -> menus -> find custom links on left corner -> then add # URL field of same section -> finally add those menu on top menu with sub menu inside it.

    Hope this helps you.

    Thanks

    Style Themes Rep-

That is what rwb2073 suggested above and sadly it did not work. As an alternate solution, we are not going to use the menu main pages as an actual content page but instead as an “overview page” of the content in the sub-pages. I plan to move all content that we currently have listed in our main pages to sub menu pages. That way if someone clicks on the main page from their computer or tablet they will still see content while also addressing the fact that in a mobile situation you are not able to connect to those pages.

So while the problem still exists, I think this is a viable work around.

    Sincerly-

    Diane

    Hi dfcooper2,

We hope you got the solution of your issue.

Here is reason why the top menu need to be put on # link:

If you place # link then on laptop or bigger screen you can see the submenu on hover, which will provide easy accessibility for the user.

As on mobile devices there is no any hover features. Only click event is used on mobile devices. As to make top menu clickable you need to keep double click condition or some condition which will makes top menu works after the sub menu is appeared. This method is not the good practise.

Still if you need to implement those ideas then you need to customize puresimple-extras.js templated bringing on child themes.

    Hope this clearifies your doubt.

    Thanks

I’m using the Pure and Simple theme. When i tap on a header menu
vlccidaho.org all I get is the home page when using my Smartphone (Android). The sub menus work great. I tried clearing my cache on my phone but it didn’t work.

This is a update on my last post. Every menu item on the top nav functions the same way.

Please help! I have the same issue but I just cannot figure out what you mean by # link.

I added a custom link for the parent pages instead and as URL I just used for example https://casa-bellezza.ch/behandlungen/. Do I have to add the # somewhere.

I would be very very grateful for your help!
