main menu navigation problems
-
I can use my main menu to navigate to The Events Calendar. Everything on the calendar works and I can use everything below the main menu, but I can’t use the main menu to navigate AWAY from the events calendar. The main menu just isn’t usable. I have to use the back button to get back to the home page and then I can use the main menu again. This only happens on the events calendar pages. I’m a new wordpress user, so detailed instructions would be helpful.

Thank you for reaching out.
Sorry to hear that. We would love to help, but it seems like your site is hiding behind a password so it’s hard to get a sense of what’s going on.Hang in there!
GeoffIt’s a staging site. I haven’t transferred anything to the live site yet. Is there a user I can give access to? I’m using siteground for hosting and my staging site is through them.
Moderator note: @divergentbeginnings1 ?Please don’t offer to send or post logon credentials on these forums: https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines#the-bad-stuff It is not OK to offer, enter, or send site credentials on these forums. Thanks for your cooperation.
I apologize. I did not mean to break the forum rules. Can you help me anyways without viewing the website? I feel like I described the problem pretty accurately. Let me know if you need more information.
Hi @divergentbeginnings1, no worries. Please do not share credentials or sensitive information in this forum, for us to follow the WP Community Guidelines.
Yes, it is hard to see what’s going on here without seeing the website. It could be a conflict or a front-end issue. Would be good if you could send us the System Information via email [email protected], and the staging site username/password, not the wp-admin credentials. Please insert the dotorg URL here and also mention me in the ticket. This would definitely help us replicate the issue, and investigate further. https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/sharing-your-system-information
Looking forward to helping you with this one.
Best,
Abz@abzlevelup “and the staging site username/password,” I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.
If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.
Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us escalating this to the plugins team.
It’s never necessary to do that. Here’s why.
There are many ways to get information you need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them. That’s going too far.
- Ask for a link to the https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com log of the user’s web server error log.
- Ask the user to create and post a link to their
phpinfo();
output. - Ask the user to install the Health Check plugin and get the data that way.
- Walk the user through enabling WP_DEBUG and how to log that output to a file and how to share that file.
- Walk the user through basic troubleshooting steps such and disabling all other plugins, clear their cache and cookies and try again.
- Ask the user for the step-by-step on how they can reproduce the problem.
You get the idea.
Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get you into real trouble in these forums.

Okay. So now I’m confused. What exactly do I need to do so I can get help with this problem without breaking any rules?
It should not be neessary, @divergentbeginnings1 , for anyone to log in to your site.
Hi @sterndata, I’m aware of not logging in to the user’s dashboard, apologies. I was asking for the login to access the front end and see the website. Again, apologies for not highlighting that further.
That being said @divergentbeginnings1, it would be good if you could do the Conflicts and Testing on your end. Please do follow this article here, https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/.
Could you try deactivating all other plugins except for our plugins to see if that makes a difference and make sure that the plugins are up-to-date? Moreover, could you switch to the default theme? And see if that makes a difference.
I would also suggest using a third-party plugin, Health Check Plugin — this plugin can be really helpful when testing for conflicts. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
Please do keep us posted, and let us know how it goes.
Best,
AbzOkay. I used the Health Check Plugin and it found no issues of any significance. I also changed the theme and that fixed the problem. I also tried switching back to my theme, Charity Foundations, and then deactivated all the plugins and reactivated them all one at a time to make sure that the problem was truly with The Events Calendar plugin. It was. It seemed clear to me at this point that the conflict was between the theme and The Events Calendar plugin. I then contacted the theme creator to try to address the issue and they assured me that the theme was compatible with The Events Calendar plugin. They suggested that I could try a rollback to the previous version that they suggested. I ran the WP rollback plugin and rolled it back to that previous version indicated by the theme designer. The problem was not resolved. I also tried several other versions, but it still did not resolve.
I sent the system information to the email you indicated and mentioned you in the subject line. In a separate email to the same email address you will find the username/password to view the frontend of the website. This is the URL to the website: https://staging3.divergentbeginnings.org/
Thanks Abz!
Hi @divergentbeginnings1, thanks for trying it out. Appreciate your patience here as well.
It seems like this is an issue with your theme breaking the layout. Although we do not support customization as per our support policy. I’d be glad to share with you a solution via Custom CSS.
Go to Appearances → Customize → Additional CSS and insert this Custom CSS here:
.tribe-common-l-container.tribe-events-l-container, .tribe-common.tribe-events.tribe-events-view.tribe-events-view--list.tribe-common--breakpoint-xsmall.tribe-common--breakpoint-medium.tribe-common--breakpoint-full { clear: both !important; }
See the screen recording here with the snippet temporarily applied to the browser:
https://share.getcloudapp.com/qGuxoYe6It should work after applying this snippet. Make sure to clear the cache after. Moreover, you can check our Themer’s Guide to learn more about implementing CSS customization → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/knowledgebase-category/customizing/.
See if that works on your end. Let me know how it goes.
Best,
AbzAmazing! Thank you so much!! This worked perfectly! Should this continue to work with future updates of the plugin?
Again! Thank you so much!!
So this coding works perfect for my website as long as it is in Desktop view, but aparently, the same problem occurs again when in mobile view. I’ve tested it a few times and this seems to be consistant. Is there a way I can apply this to the mobile view settings? I’m not very familiar with adjusting those just fyi. Thanks so much!
