main navigation font color

I find it very difficult or impossible to try to make the most simple basic customizations. I have 4.2.2 WP version – Inkblot template. It has a black navigation bar with the font color an off white that hardly can be seen. When hovering it does turn a bright white and is seen. I would like to have it the bright white when “idle” and the hover color be red.

There is no easy customization features in the template for this like there should be.I do not know code and can never find the right place to change it when I read these forums and hear suggestions.

Is there a simple way to do this or do you have to be a web developer?
