I am using CPTUI with WPExplorer’s “Total” theme and Visual Composer.

I created a custom post type (“Strength”) for which I want to use a static page (“Strengths”) instead of a traditional post archive. I set “Main Page ID” to the ID of the static page I published for this purpose and kept “Has archive” to false, but breadcrumbs (both Yoast’s and Total’s) do not include the “main page”.

Instead of: Home >> Strengths >> Achiever

I just see: Home >> Achiever

Everything seems to be in place, so I’m not sure what’s going wrong.

    Questions for you:

    1. What is “Achiever” in this case? Post in the “Strength” post type? Something else?
    2. What is “Main Page ID” ? Not quite following what that would be in WordPress’ context.

Hunches thus far are that you’re trying to achieve something with custom post types that they aren’t meant for, at least not without a lot more custom coding. The breadcrumbs are likely behaving the way they should, at least out of the box.

    1. Yes, that’s correct. Achiever is an individual post of the custom post type “Strength” I created.

    2. Main Page ID is a setting I see when I go to CPT UI >> Add/edit post types >> Edit post type. At the bottom of the page, there’s a section of settings called “Total” with a setting called “Main Page ID” with a description that says “Used for breadcrumbs”.

Judging by your response I’m now realizing that the Total theme must be adding these settings here and not the CPT UI plugin.

Hard to say for certain still.

Do you have other self-registered custom post types that are showing breadcrumbs like desired? Ones not from CPTUI but not created by other plugins?

Regarding item 2, I looked up the theme, and it appears that they ship with some integration with our plugin (very cool!), but that part then is going to be something they need to offer support for. We don’t have details like breadcrumbs as part of the core plugin. That would be something they’ve added/integrated with.

Yeah. That whole panel below the “Built in Taxonomies” part is from the theme devs.

Hopefully they can provide some support as well to get these issues addressed. We weren’t aware that they integrated with our plugin at all, so that’s a pleasant surprise on our end ??

    No, unfortunately I don’t.

Yep! I found out about your plugin through the Total theme’s documentation:
    https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/adding-custom-post-types/
It’s been working wonderfully for everything else.

Thanks for your help! I’ll reach out to them.

Sounds good. If they come back with anything we need to do on our end, we’re all ears to do what we can.

    Thanks Drew.
