Main page only ONE category posts please

Hi there, I have modified and stripped wordpress in such a way that I can use it as a kind of portfolio website. Each category shows certain types of work.
I have almost everything working. When ever I post a new ‘post’ the index.php shows all these posts (well latest posts).
What I would like is that on the front page (the index.php file) it only shows the latest posts from ONE certain category. So that the front is more like a blog (personal blah blah) and the posts of new work and stuff is NOT showing on the front page.
Kinda understand, hehehe. Well let me know! Well thanks in advance,
